AIRO call for `morphine` winners to stand The Association of Irish Racehorse Owners have called on the Turf Club not to change the results of races where samples from horses were found to be positive for morphine, writes Alan Magee. The Association are appealing the Turf Club to use their powers under rule 22.1 (the right to modify or suspend any rule) to implement this change as `there appears to be no malicious intent on the part of anybody to defraud or affect the result of a race`.`The levels of morphine found in the samples were so low as not to have any positive or negative effect on an animal`s performance,` said Association Chairman Peter McCarthy.Alan Magee
